ENDOCRINOLOGY

Endocrinology is related to the treatment of disorders concerning the endocrine system. The endocrine system includes glands and organs which produce hormones. These hormones are required to regulate the various bodily functions.

Major Endocrine Conditions:

  • Hypothyroidism: The thyroid gland doesn’t produce adequate thyroid hormone, leaving symptoms like fatigue and weight gain.

  • Adrenal Insufficiency (Addison's Disease):

The adrenal glands don't produce the required amount of cortisol and aldosterone, which are the steroid hormones. Cortisol regulates the metabolism, inflammations, and the way body responds to stress. Aldosterone regulates blood pressure by controlling minerals like sodium and potassium levels in the blood and tissues. They work cohesion maintain the regulation of the blood pressure.

Weight gain and muscle weakness caused by prolonged exposure to high levels of cortisol.
